Arabic and Middle Eastern Food – Aladdin Restaurant – Manchester

middle eastern food, manchester

When I visit my sister in Manchester, she usually takes me for a delicious feast at the Aladdin Restaurant in Withington. This is an Arabic and Middle Eastern restaurant that’s been around since the 1980s and has built up a solid reputation for providing unbelievably tasty food.

It’s nothing flashy from the outside, but droves of people are tempted back here again and again to enjoy the impressive cuisine on offer.

Inside the atmosphere can be described as homely and traditional.  While the  reasonably priced menu and option to bring your own alcohol makes this a budget friendly eatery, the food is top quality and has a warming authentic edge that not many restaurants manage to achieve.

We always choose a few dishes to share to start and then get our own mains.

My Menu Selections

Baba Ghannouj

Baked Aubergine mashed with yoghurt, garlic and tahina with chopped tomatoes, onions, parsley and grenadine syrup. Served with olive oil and pitta bread.

Potato Kibbeh

Mashed potato stuffed with a mixture of mince meat (lamb or chicken), parsley, onions and pine kernels.

Tabouleh Salad

Bulgar wheat, tomatoes, onions, parsley, fresh lemon juice, olive oil and herbs. I recreated this fresh juicy salad to accompany  falafel for my Taste Of cooking challenge.

Shaworma

This tasty main course features slices of lamb marinated with spices and grilled on an upright spit. Served with tahini sauce.
