Stunning sunswept beaches dotted with palm trees await me in the Caribbean where I’m heading for a two-week luxury cruise. This will be my first visit to this famously idyllic location and also the first time I’ve ever been on a cruise holiday. I’m looking forward to the new experience, which is considerably different to the budget-orientated style of travel I’ve opted for in the past.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to kicking back and relaxing on some beautiful Caribbean islands. I haven’t really been anywhere since arriving back from long-term travel in Canada towards the end of last year and, now that I’m back home in Liverpool, England, working full-time again, I haven’t had much time to dedicate to this blog. It’s weird how priorities change so quickly, but I’m determined to keep up See My Travels and this trip will give me some fresh material to work with.
This Caribbean jaunt has been booked for nearly a year now and is a family holiday to celebrate my dear dad’s 60th. The P&O cruise will be visiting Barbados, Curacao, Aruba, St Vincent, Grenada, St Maarten, Tortola, Dominica and St Lucia.
Stay tuned for lots of Caribbean photos and articles on my return. In the meantime, I’m going to be sharing some more of my Canada photos over the next couple of weeks.
Do you like going on cruises or if you haven’t been on a cruise, is this type of holiday something you’d like to try?

So cool! Have loads of fun!
How exciting for you! We did a 14 night Caribbean cruise in December (our first and only so far) and LOVED it! You are going to have a ball!
My favorite islands were Aruba, Curacao and St Thomas.
I would totally do another cruise! Some travelers give cruising a bad rap but it was so much fun and a great way to see so many different islands in one hit! We would love to do a Mediterranean or Alaskan cruise… or maybe both
Cant wait to read your posts about it.. WIll be a trip down memory lane for me!

Hi Nicola, can’t believe people give cruises a bad rap. I like to be open to different ways of travel and, after returning from the cruise, can say it was a fanstastic way to travel. You don’t get to see the islands in detail, but you get a snapshot of several different ones which is great. My faves were Dominica and St Vincent, but really liked Curacao as well!
This is great news! We love cruising and did a similar cruise a few years ago. It was so much fun. Our favourite islands were Curacao and St, Maarten. We also love Tortola and have been there twice, 20 years apart. Not much had changed. I am so looking forward to your posts and pictures. Every island has its own personality. There will be many photo ops. A great family trip to be sure!
Hi Darlene, I agree with you that each island is different which makes it so exciting! I didn’t get to see much of Tortola as we visited on a Sunday and it was like a ghost town aside from lots of people trying to get us to go to the beach saying ‘nothing is open’ but we did end up at the Botanical Gardens which were really nice.
A few palm tree lined beaches sound pretty perfect for this time of year! I’ve not seen much of the Caribbean so look forward to seeing your photos – I’m a bit of a boat phobic so this’ll probably the nearest I get to a cruise but who knows you might convert me!

Hi Lucy, I’m boat phobic too but the cruise was so big you don’t really feel the motion. There was only one evening when could feel a little bit of motion but it wasn’t enough to make me ill.
You’re going to have a ton of fun! I’ve been on a bunch of cruises (mostly to the Caribbean) and have written numerous blog posts about them. Check them out! May give you some ideas of tours/activities!
just found you via twitter- look forward to connecting! Loving your blog!
