Why Vancouver Is My Favourite City In Canada

Vancouver is my favourite city in Canada. Montreal comes a very, very close second, but nowhere quite matched up to this gorgeous west coast metropolis.

While there was much more stunning scenery to be enjoyed in locations such as the Canadian Rockies, Vancouver was a city where I could actually envisage myself living.

As a city girl who grew up in Liverpool, England, I enjoy a cosmopolitan environment.

I also love the outdoors: mountains, forests, beaches and the ocean.

Vancouver has all of this and is the perfect mixture of fast-paced city living combined with an outdoors lifestyle.

It was my starting point at the beginning of my Canada travels in May.

In fact, one of my first posts after arriving was about the healthy lifestyle in Vancouver.

Caz and Craig over at yTravelBlog have started a new feature called #TravelPinspiration.

Every week, they choose a different theme and share the best photographs across their social media platforms and on their blog.

This week’s theme is Fave Cities Around The World.

So, I am going to take you on a trip through Vancouver via some images of my favourite areas…

English Bay

 Jericho Beach

Downtown business district

Granville Island

Stanley Park and the Sea Wall

Commercial Drive

Coal Harbour

What is your favourite city in the world and why?

This is why I am so happy to be living and working here. It is a beautiful city and you depicted it well with your photos Alison.

Thanks very much Debbie, you’re very lucky living in Vancouver. I would seriously consider the possibility of emigrating at some point.

Wow! So beautiful! I have yet to visit Vancouver but these photos have made me so keen. They show such a local side to the city. Love it. Thanks for joining in with Travel Pinspiration. We’ve published our post now so come and put your link to this one on there (press the blue link button at the end of the post)

Cheers Caz, I just realised you’re meant to select pics from Pinterest and share them on a blog post, rather than just put a load of photos of your own in a post. Ah well, I’ll know for next week :-)

I used to live in Vancouver when I was little. Absolutely loved it and I always go back whenever I head that way to see our friends.

As to my favourite city in the world? I’ve been to so many. But a favourite which surprised me is Krakow in Poland. So beautiful!

What a cool place to grow up and it must be great having an excuse to go visit! My parents have been to Krakow and they loved it. I’ve yet to go, but would like to at some point.

You have to go to Paris and I hope it still stays as your favourite city after you visit. I went last year for the first time, but felt like I had been there before in some ways because I’d seen so many films and photos featuring it, so everywhere was familiar.

Beautiful pics Alison, I so wanted to love Vancouver but something just didn’t click for some reason even with everything you’ve listed above :-(

Sometimes that happens, especially when expectations are high. Experience, mood and length of time in a place can also be factors. I wasn’t fussed on Sydney when I first visited, but the second time I loved it. If the weather hadn’t been so nice and I hadn’t spent so long in Vancouver (nearly two months altogether, back and forth) my opinion of the place could have been very different.
