When I was out hiking in the Canadian Rockies, I saw numerous chipmunks and squirrels. They were all over the place and after a while you hardly blink an eyelid when they appear.

However, the marmots are a bit more illusive, so it was great to finally come across one.

Despite still staying in Banff, Alberta, at the time, the sighting was actually made during a day trip in British Columbia, at Stanley Glacier, Kootenay National Park.

The marmot was very curious and playful.
