Coal Harbour, Vancouver: Mountain Views And Playground For The Rich

There are a lot of rich people in Vancouver. One of the places where big money can best be seen is down at Coal Harbour, which is brimming with luxury yachts worth millions of pounds.

The Seawall runs along here and I often walked this picturesque route, enjoying the mountain views and checking out some of the novelties – such as the cute boathouses.

A cluster of huge skyscrapers line the harbour. These sparkly, modern buildings also represent big money as this is where Vancouver’s financial district is located.

Depending on what side you are looking, you either have views of soaring buildings or a stunning eyeshot of the mountains.

I really liked the boathouses  – especially the yellow one on the right of the above photograph, which was named ‘Karma’.

No doubt this man is a big fish and owns one of the yachts in the harbour, along with a luxury apartment in the vicinity as well.

Coal Harbour is home to Vancouver Convention Centre – a state of the art building with some interesting features inside.

This spinning globe hanging from the ceiling was really impressive.

While it was interesting indoors, the area outside was a fantastic viewpoint for the mountains. I loved sitting on one of these sunbeds and enjoying the great views.

Behind the sunbeds is the Olympic Cauldron. This was lit to mark the official opening of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

But it is the views along the Coal Harbour Seawall that took my breath away…

Trees offer some much-needed shade along certain parts.

Rocks and small beaches line the walls, creating the perfect forefront for photos.

The mountains are huge, but they never look as big in photographs as they seem in reality.

Sea planes can frequently be seen taking off and landing at the terminal in Coal Harbour.

Have you visited Coal Harbour? Do you like the views here?
