My 7 Super Shots

I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and participate in Hostelbookers’ 7 Super Shots – choosing some of my favourite travel shots that each evoke different feelings. Here they are…

A photo that takes my breath away…

I took this photo of a stunning sunset setting at Port Erin in the Isle of Man. It was one of those moments where I was completely amazed by the beauty of my surroundings. The explosive colours in the sky, the mysterious cliffs of Bradda Head, the quaint cottages in the forefront, the reflections on the beach – it was breathtaking.

A photo that makes me laugh or smile…

This was one of the optical illusions at Edinburgh’s Camera Obscura. Because we had so much fun here, this photo always makes me smile and brings back good memories (even though it was only a couple of weeks ago!).

A photo that makes me dream…

Great Western Beach in Newquay, Cornwall. Being close to the sea clears my head and makes me dream of travelling and being free. Seeing the surfers out there amidst the waves makes me dream of one day being able to do this myself – after many more surfing lessons of course.

A photo that makes me think…

My recent trip to Edinburgh Zoo was filled with mixed emotions. Although I love visiting zoos, seeing some of the animals, particularly the big cats, in enclosures too small for them to really run wild made me think about the ethics of having animals in captivity.

A photo that makes my mouth water…

Another picture from Newquay. This paella was delicious and looks as good as it tasted. It was a catch of the day special and was a real party on the tastebuds.

Cornish paella - a 'catch of the day' special.

A photo that tells a story…

The John Lennon statue on the corner of Mathew Street – one of Liverpool’s well known streets where the world’s most famous band, The Beatles, began their career performing in the Cavern Club.

A photo that I am most proud of (aka my worthy of National Geographic shot)…

Port Erin in the Isle of Man is the perfect setting for photographs. I like the composition provided by the cliffs and the rolling waves. I also like the general mood of the image.

I would love to see Edinburgh, a close friend of mine lives near to Edinburgh. Hopefully one day. My Mom went on a trip to the UK years ago and she said one of the highlights of her trip was Edinburgh especially the visiting the castle.

The Great Western Beach photo is breathtaking! The sea also gives me this calm feeling and helps me clear my head. Now I feel like going to the beach! :D
